Northshire Grows started as a grassroots farm and food network, built to knit together Manchester and the Mountains’ food producers, businesses and community members who all shared a common interest in our local food economy and its potential.
Four years later, Northshire Grows Inc. is a newly registered nonprofit organization that focuses on community engagement around food, agribusiness market development and, the heartbeat of it all, Farm to School programming.
Liz Ruffa has led this effort from its inception, using her network development and outreach skills to fuse an increasingly solid regional food system in Southwestern Vermont. Knowledgeable in social and environmental impact investment strategies, Liz serves on the Steering Committee of the Vermont Farm to Plate Network and on the Board of Directors of the Vermont Foodbank. She is also a member of the Town of Dorset’s Select Board.
The Board of Directors of Northshire Grows includes:
Donald Campbell, Bennington (VT Land Trust)
Brian Campion, Bennington (VT State Senator)
Jesse Pyles, Danby (Smokey House Center)
Liz Ruffa, East Dorset (Northshire Grows)
Linda Joy Sullivan, Dorset (VT Legislative Rep.)
