Our impact is seen in the increased dynamism in area schools, the increased vibrancy at local farmer's markets and specialty stores and the increasing interest in community cooking, food literacy and events that focus on local food, community and well-being.
We measure our impact one case of sweet potatoes at a time, one Farm to School professional development course at a time, one visit from a statewide leader and/or colleague at a time.
Bennington County feeds 7,000 K-12 students daily, hosts 50,000 visitors annually and spends $100 million dollars a year on food purchases. Only a scant percentage of these number is locally driven.
That is our challenge...and our opportunity.
